White wine, Fisherman Spice Mussels

Calling all seafood lovers...try this fancy inexpensive recipe packed with flavour! A sure crowd-pleaser that can be served as an appetizer or meal.

Those that love mussels loooooovvve mussels and cleaning them is the toughest part. Mussels can be included in various dishes including pasta and salads, it's a seafood that grabs on to so many different layers of flavour and has the ability to be presented as a very elegant dish.

Steamed mussels made with shallots, garlic, and white wine make the perfect broth. As the mussels steam, the broth marinates the inside of the shells.

Pair this tasty treat with a loaf of crusty bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

  • 2 shallots finely chopped

  • 4 garlic cloves finely chopped

  • 2 pounds 1kg mussels, cleaned

  • 1 cup dry white wine

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cut into pieces

  • 2 tablespoons Fisherman Spice

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped

  • 3 scallions chopped

Preparation

Step 1
Heat the olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium-high heat and sauté the onion and garlic until softened, approximately 3-5 minutes.


Step 2
Add the cleaned mussels, wine, and remaining butter. Season to taste with Fisherman Spice.



Step 3

Sprinkle scallions and parsley, and cover the pot with a lid. Steam until mussels are cooked through and opened, about 12-15 minutes.


Step 4

Serve mussels along with the pan juices over your favourite pasta and/or with crusty bread.
